Yes, thats how things work, we show only the good sides of ours to impress people, to convince people, we only show them what we want them to see, we only tell things that we want them to hear, things which are only favourable to us.

2 sides of a coin
Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers are always pretty to look at regardless from which angle you looking at it. But Kuala Lumpur is not just about the Twin Towers, mind you. But one would ask, then why all posters that promote Kuala Lumpur (KL) as a tourism destination will always have the pretty images of sights of KL especially the Twin Towers? Well, thats because we all want the foreigners to see what they want to see, what we want them to see. It will make Malaysia looks good to others.

Lets just pause for a moment and think about it thoroughly about what i stated above. Given any ordinary prudent man would have did the same, so i wouldnt blame them. The more foreigners come to malaysia, the more renenue we can generate from tourism industry. This is why we need to constantly strive to continue and perpetuate the idea to make Malaysia looks good all the time.

But lets give a hypothetical situation here, IF all those posters which promote Kuala Lumpur as a tourism destination doesnt show nice scenery of Kuala Lumpur but showing slum areas such as Pudu area where a lot of drug addicts are loitering in that area, and beggars sleep under the over-head bridges. Do you think the foreigner would have the same perception about Kuala Lumpur? Surely even a small kid could answer that easily, OF COURSE NOT!

But well, its not like only Malaysia using this tactic to attract foreigners to come here for a visit or investment, every country does that. Yes, thats how things work, we show only the good sides of ours to impress people, to convince people, we only show them what we want them to see, we only tell things that we want them to hear, things which are only favourable to us.

However, thats not the whole picture that we are getting when we listen and see something that people want us to see and hear. Perhaps letting people to judge something by showing 2 sides of the coin might not be a good idea afterall. That is why people kept quiet on things which they wouldnt want others to know.

But for me, i dont really care though, i dont give a damn how other people look at malaysia, if a foreigner come to me and ask me directions to both Twin Tower and Pudu area, i will show them both directions. Not just because of courtesy, its because i would rather want them to know the whole real picture of Malaysia even though it might damage the perception of the foreigners towards the country which detrimental to us instead of showing them only the better side of Malaysia like all the posters do. If theres anything bad about this country is being brought up as an issue, at least i would be first to admit it. But to put me solely on blame and even try to crucify me in public for down fall of Malaysia tourism just because i am showing both 2 sides of the coin, i would find it rather ridiculous though.

Oh my, its almost 3am and i still got classes tomorrow..(ya i know, its valentine's day, what to do) T.T. Actually today i wanted to blog about something more serious regarding politics today but i ended up talking trash about the tourism industry(oh ya, try read between lines-the title of this post itself actually means a lot).
